*ILEA has its own children’s book – Weekend School! It tells the story of Josephine and her time in Saturday school. This book was first read to an audience at Mother Tongue Day in Edmonton, Alberta in 2009, organized by our sister association IHLA www.ihla.ca. MS Word versions can be made available to members so that they can edit this book for their own purposes. Download and read it now!
Many educators have found ILEA’s work on task-based teaching to be of great use for their classrooms. In addition to past work on Financial Literacy and the Aga Khan Museum, ILEA was happy to partner with the Ministry of Education to work on Intercultural Tasks for International Languages. Although this document is focused on the curriculum guidelines for IL-S (Secondary), there are many applications with modifications for any learner in the field. Check out these resources at:
ILEA has had many positive responses for its Think Literacy supplements – work that was coordinated and funded by the Ministry of Education. Check out the Reading and Writing supplement for IL levels 1 and 2 of Think Literacy. Strategies from Think Literacy for Oral Communication also available.
