Greetings to all Institutional Members of ILEA!
The Winter Forum is almost upon us!!
We will once again focus on a few topics of interest for ILEA members to work on/discuss/plan action on. The Winter Forum tends to be focused on less items but more work time and group discussions than the Fall and Spring Forums.
Please see the agenda below. The meeting will be from 10 am to 2:30 pm on Friday February 28th, 2020. We are so very happy that the administration of the Peel District School Board has asked to host ILEA for this session and will be providing a working lunch for us all to enjoy. A big thank you to Mark Botnick and his school district who is coordinating the day!

Agenda:
- Welcome and Introductions (Networking Coffee and Refreshments);

- Updates, Information Items and Orientation to the Winter Working Sessions for 2020
ILEA members will pick two of the three sessions as is the style of the Winter Working Forum. There will be two sessions offered. At the end of the sessions, we will come together and summarize, discuss and plan actions for the association.
A. Session: PD Needs for Language Educators
This session will review the key needs for professional development that is being felt across Ontario school boards in IIL but as well as other language programs. This session will give participants more time to determine the needs and share best practices for the provision of PD. In addition, participants will be asked to assist in ILEA advocacy efforts to secure grant sessions for IIL-E programs which are currently excluded from other grantable sessions under the Ministry.
B. Session: Community Relations
Participants will have a chance to review, discuss and share strategies for building good community relations with programs that are both local and global. This will give ILEA a chance to also determine a set of guidelines that school systems need to consider when partnering with community associations, embassies/consulates, parent groups, international schools or education bodies.
C. Session: Sharing Administrative Practices
(bring guidelines, procedures, staff handbooks and develop a list of key items that all school boards should know when running an I/IL-E/S program);
- Working Lunch;
- Summary of Group Work;
- Information for Next Meeting (Spring Forum) that will be hosted by the Wellington Catholic District School Board (thanks Lilliana!).
Look ahead and save the date for Spring Forum – Kitchener, June 1, 2020!! Topics: Curriculum Development; Language Alliances with Partner Organizations;
